How to Take Advantage of Credit Card Rewards
Do you see all the different credit cards and the rewards they are offering and get overwhelmed? It can get very confusing with all the credit cards out their. There are so many with so many benefits you don’t know which to choose.
Credit cards give you more than just credit.
While taking purchases out on credit is very convenient, it is not the only benefit of a credit card. Back when credit cards first came out, they probably didn’t have anything special, but as more and more cards came out, they needed a way to compete. This is when they came up with cash rewards and many other benefits.
Credit card rewards means you can get an instant discount on the money you spend. Instead of having to search for ways to save on a purchase such as deals and coupons, you can use your cash back credit card for an instant discount.
Take advantage of your rewards.
If you got a rewards card just for the rewards on your purchases and only spend $20 a month, you are not taking advantage of your rewards. I’m not saying to use for card for absolutely everything, even a $2 coffee, although you might want to, that’s up to you. I’m just saying, use your card whenever possible to take full advantage of your cash rewards.
What type of rewards are you looking for?
Credit card rewards are usually based on what you spend the most on. For example, if you spend a lot on gas, a gas rewards card is best for you. You can earn cash back on all the gas you spend and on anything you spend money on for your car.
There are also many other types of reward cards such as cash back on shopping and grocery store purchases. If you really want to save money, find the rewards card for what you use most.
Make Your Rewards Count
If you are paying 13% or higher on your car, even a 6% cash back will mean nothing. You are still paying 7% on all your purchases. To take full advantage of your cash back rewards, make sure you always pay your bill in it’s entirety on time. A credit card is not meant to be a long term loan, just a short term convenience.
